Tongue in cheek
You used to pull your tongue to your cheek when you got mad
I don’t know if you still do it but I wanted to try it on
So I did it near the end of the retreat and I felt bad
‘Cuz I’m pretty sure the other kids knew that something was wrong
And nobody knows you
But I’d be embarrassed if they did
‘Cuz I’ve idolized you
Ever since I was a kid
Bar none, hands down, you were great at playing your part
I was wearing your expressions 'round the house as a plan of attack
And there’s millions of people ‘round the globe that know who you are
But as lonely as I was I guess I kinda wanted something like that
And nobody knows you
But I’d be embarrassed if they did
‘Cuz I’ve had my mind set
Ever since I was a kid
And if you were what I should’ve been
And if you were what I should’ve been
Then someone set some pretty ****ing high standards
Someone set some pretty ****ing high standards
