Hummingbird
Hummingbird, come to my window
I want to know what you know
I've heard it said:
"If you don't like the rain you'll be bored
And you'll feel low"
But I don't mind the rain
And things are always the same
The Stumptown blues will get you in trouble
But trouble has always been there for me
Hummingbird, moving so quickly
But steadily still - how do you know what is real?
When I close my eyes the walls around me unwrap
And out-of-control cartographer
Draws an impossible map
Mary, Mary quite contrary
Your garden is overgrown
When the vines creep in the street
And tangle the town, tying you down
If you don't fly they will gather you
I've got a letter I need to send
I wish you were a carrier pigeon
But hummingbird, I'm dying to know
Where did she go?
She was here just a moment ago
